“Public art offers a special place for us to collectively immerse ourselves in the intrinsic beauty of a creation while exploring one’s own personal expression of the experience. Importantly, public art is a manifestation of the vibrancy, creativity and spirit of a community. The US Cycling Monument not only is a tribute to cycling and cyclists, it is a testament to our community’s energy, and a gift to the heart and mind of every citizen and visitor.

The US Cycling Monument will become part of the canvas of our community — a work to be interpreted variously by each of us. A creation to be enjoyed solely for it artistic presence. A symbol of the natural energy of our community. A fantasy for all who wish for speed and exhilaration. A memorial to all two-wheeled adventurers. Boulder can ask for no better monument or a more beautiful work of art.”

It has been a busy time here at USCM. We recently attended the Zinger/Coors 35th reunion party at the Four Seasons in Vail. Many of the great faces from the Coors Classic days were there to celebrate, some having traveled from other continents to join each other.

Michael Aisner, joined by Phil Liggett, presented with an amazing array of videos, pictures and stories from the Race days. We met many wonderful people and received lots of support for the Monument.

This Sunday we will have a booth at the finish line of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge in Denver. It promises to be a big crowd with an exciting expo. Come see us!

Much of our time has been spent creating a slide presentation with Russ Croop. We will bring this to the Pro Challenge expo where you can watch it on our Mac. To watch it now visit USCM Presentation. Please feel free to share it!

We loved this letter from Oscar Forrell, May 27, 2011. He allowed us to share with you:

” ….the bicycle is the great will to any bicyclist, is his first passion, before he wake rider.
– He cares, clean and put better parts – not only for better performance in the exercise – but for her to reciprocate without annoying, at any competition or simply stroll.

All cyclist want your bicycle silent in all, light or fast, but above all, must be trusted, for to not return back walking…But if it happens, he does not abandon, carries on his back.

A bicycle comes into his soul before its purchase.
If the rider is a mechanic or engineer, his beloved bicycle comes in dreams before riding, before the glorious day to see it built and working well.
The real cyclist, delights to watch your bike for hours on end.

Today when any tourist, watches some hieroglyphics Egyptians, seem beautiful but they do not understand. I understand them.
With happy 70 year old on back, I pedal 20 miles every day, just do not go farther for care.
Yes I not yet grown up, and hope never to grow. I confess, prefer the soul of children who I did not let die inside.

Best regards
Oscar.
